“You jump to conclusions faster than any man I know!” Sarah MacKenzie glared at her best friend.

“Really?” Harmon Rabb asked coldly. “That certainly didn't look like a platonic kiss to me.”

“Harm, do you realize how much Clay has been through in the past few days? For me? I think that one kiss isn't much to give to a man who saved my life!”

“Really? How about one for me, then?”

“Harm. Be serious. Clay is probably dying, and we're stuck here, in the middle of Paraguay, with no sense of where we are. We have no food, no water, no shelter, and dozens of injuries. This is no time to stand around and bicker!” She stalked off--or attempted to, at least. This did not work too well with her sprained ankle.

“Mac! Are you all right?”

“Gee, you think?” Mac snapped irritably.

“You don't have to get snippy with me. I'm only looking out for your well-being.”

“Shut up and help me, Commander.”

Harm helped Mac into a sitting position. He looked around for anything he could wrap Mac's ankle with. Finally, he removed his denim jacket and his brown button-down shirt. He tore the shirt into strips, wrapping them around Mac's ankle as best as he could.

Mac gritted her teeth in pain. When Harm finished, she said, “Thanks, Harm.”

“No problem, Mac.”

“Let's go, Commander. We really ought to find a place to rest before nightfall. Food and water will have to wait until tomorrow.” She started off, pushing thick branches out of her path.

Harm followed silently. Somehow, he didn't think it was the right time to tell Mac he resigned his commission to find her. And Webb, of course.

Finally, they came across a small clearing. To their good fortune, there was a small stream running along the edge of it.

“Well, I guess we're staying here for the night. And it's a good thing we found it, too,” Harm said. The light was weak, having filtered through many layers of foliage, and it was much darker than he was used to it being at sunset.

“If you get some water, I'll start a fire,” Mac said. Harm removed his pack and started going through it.

Eventually, they settled down for the night. Neither could sleep very well.

“Harm? We're going to get out of this, right?” Mac voiced her doubts.

“Of course we are. We're Batman and Robin.”

“Really? I thought we were Butch and Sundance. Going out in a blaze of glory and all that, remember?”

Harm chuckled. The familiar sound soothed Mac. “Yeah. I remember.”

Oh, and this week's word was "conclusion".
