Author's Note: Go, Patriots! This was so much fun to write. *sigh* But now a Tony/Kate plot bunny has bitten hard, and I just... can't... shake it... off! Aaarrrgh! (Oh, and "You're no lady. You're my sister," is from the Disney movie The Aristocats, as is the song "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat".)
"Wasn't that a great game last night?" Tony Dinozzo said as he sat in his chair. He placed his feet on the desk and leaned back.
Kate Todd glared at him, but said nothing. She pounded on the keyboard with a force that was truly unnecessary. Gibbs looked at Dinozzo blankly. "Game?"
"Aw, come on, Gibbs!" Tony exclaimed. "Don't tell me you missed the Super Bowl! You must get CBS on that ancient TV of yours."
"That was on last night?" Gibbs said in way of reply.
Tony rolled his eyes. "Yes, Gibbs. That was on last night. And it was amazing! You should've seen Vinateri's last field goal!" he said, warming to his subject. "Right down the middle to win the game. The Pats defense was great, too. The Panthers were pretty good, but not as good as the Patriots!"
Kate snarled silently at the computer screen as she continued typing her report. "Something wrong, Agent Todd?" Gibbs asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Katie's in a bad mood," Tony said in a singsong tone. "Someone lost a bet last night." He grinned smugly. Gibbs turned to Kate, silently asking for an explanation.
"You just have to keep rubbing it in, don't you, Tony? And don't call me Katie," Kate said in exasperation.
"Of course. It's not often I get one up on the great Caitlin Todd." Tony twirled a pen absently between his fingers and asked, "So where are you taking me to dinner, Kate?"
Gibbs prided himself on being a man fully in control of his faculties. Still, it came as a surprise to him that he didn't spit his coffee all over his desk after Tony asked Kate the question.
Kate gave Tony her most innocent look and replied, "Surely you're not expecting a lady to pay for your meal, Agent Dinozzo. That would be most ungentlemanly." Gibbs snorted into his mug.
Tony gave her a look--no, a Look. "You're no lady. You're my sister," he quipped.
"Been watching too many Disney movies lately, Tony?" Kate smirked. "The Aristocats, right?"
"Hey, it's not my fault I have a niece who loves Disney," Tony replied defensively. "And you never answered my question."
"Don't worry, Tony. I know a place that cooks a great steak, if that's what you still want." Kate fluttered her eyelashes at Tony mockingly, then began singing under her breath. "Everybody, everybody, everybody wants to be a cat..."
Tony threw a pen at her.
