*sigh*

So, um, I was reading a fic, and I actually left a review (for once). This person, I thought, clearly needed a beta desperately, and I offered my services.

She replied saying that she had a beta, and she knew her "grammer" was bad and her characterization was way off, but it's just fanfiction, and only for fun.

I don't know what to do! There's a sad dearth of AJ/Mac writers in the JAG fandom (there's a sad lack of fic, period, now that the show's over), and I want to encourage anyone who's willing to write. But... yeah. You've gotta have standards, you know?

So should I offer to beta again, or should I just *facepalm* and move on?

*facepalm* and move on.

You could reply with, 'Oh OK, but if you ever want a beta in the future you know where to find me' but anything more is going to be banging your head against a wall.

Unfortunately too many people have this attitude. (Icon chosen at random by LJ, by oddly appropriate I feel).

I don't understand why people wouldn't want to put their best work out, though! I mean, when your fic is so riddled with mistakes that it makes people hit the back button before finishing the first sentence... I'd think that'd be a bit discouraging.
