So this guy, Ron something-or-other, made a series of movies in the 1970s about different religions. So far, we've watched the ones on Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and Roman Catholicism. Today's movie was about Protestantism.
It was the first one of these movies that made me go, "THE BATSHIT. IT BURNS." (Not like that, of course--I mean, I was still in class.)
Twenty minutes of the movie focused on fundamentalist Christianity. For the full twenty minutes, I sat there with my jaw dropped, amazed at the utter crazy talk.
The best part (as in the part that made me laugh the hardest from sheer disbelief) were the two songs that two girls sang. In summary, they said this:
Song #1: I don't know about you, buddy, but I'm not descended from monkeys.
Song #2: The ecumenical movement is evil and would welcome Satan. Screw you people, you're all going to hell.
No, really. I'll have to see if I can get the video from the library to get the actual lyrics.
This icon has never seemed more appropriate.
