Another language rant:

Alumni is plural for students who have attended a particular school/college/university. If you're talking about a single male student, you want the singular form, alumnus. If you're talking about a female student, you want alumna. If you're talking about a group of just female students, you want alumnae.

Again with the screaming if I see alumni again when one of the two singular forms should be used.
