Senior/Faculty Banquet

So tonight was the Senior/Faculty Banquet. It's this thing they have every year where the senior class and the professors have dinner and awards are handed out. It wasn't as painfully boring as I thought it would be. Of course, this is probably because I was sitting with the math and computer science departments, which are made of win. (And not because everyone got drunk, either--we're naturally fun and awesome.)

It's funny--I heard that some students were talking about how awkward it was to socialize with their professors. The math and CS departments do so much together outside of classes--eat lunch on Fridays, have the Non-Denominational Winter Holiday Party every year, have end-of-the-year parties--and all of the professors are incredibly friendly. So I didn't find it awkward at all to spend an evening with my professors, fellow CS major, and IT and math major friends.

Yeah, I said fellow CS major--major, singular. There are a grand total of two CS majors in the senior class, and one IT major. There are a bunch of minors who are also made of awesome (hi, miraclaire!), but, really, the department is tiny. Maybe that's why we're so friendly.

So anyway, we went, talked, had dinner--which was, I must say, a hell of a lot better than the regular Bartol fare--and sat through all the usual speechifying. I shared the Computer Science Award with my friend (which actually surprised me, as I wasn't expecting to win anything). And I didn't read the book I brought! Aren't you all so proud of me? *grin*

So, it was a pretty good night. And I'm not in a bitchy mood anymore, which is always a good thing.

Now, for MythBusters.
